So that there can be no more argument about whether the Micro were released before or after the DS (after, thanks).
Update: Perhaps this is mincing hairs, but the revised Game Boy Advance SP, which featured backlighting—rather than sidelighting AKA frontlighting AKA the AGS-001—has been left off this timeline. That newer SP, the AGS-101, was released at the same time as the Micro, less than a year before the revised DS Lite hit stores. Nintendo did its very best to not kill off its own GBA, but by that point most handheld gamers had moved on to the DS.
